I remember purchasing the first Style Savvy as something of a lark. My roomie and I were heavily into DS gaming at the time, and for weeks, we ‘d been inundated with ads for Nintendo’s brand-new style game. We couldn’t escape it. It was everywhere, and over time, all of those ads started to work as we ended up being completely addicted to the idea of running our own store. The last time either people felt such a crazed passion about the very same video game was best prior to Cooking Mother was launched a few years previously.
We got some amusing faces entering into GameStop to get our copies, especially because my own was really preordered. As soon as we got house, we popped our games into our DS Lites and played that day until our batteries died. We shared style pointers, went to each other’s stores, and took on in runway competitions. It instantly hooked us, and for me, it was yet another Nintendo franchise I would never ever be able to state no to.
Nintendo followed up the DS original with 3 sequels, all for the Nintendo 3DS: Innovators, Fashion Forward, and Styling Star. I’ve owned all of them, examined two of them, and since in 2015, I have actually been saying little prayers in the hope that Nintendo and syn Sophia finally announce the fifth video game in the series for Switch.
