Friday the 13th getting last patch, shutting down dedicated servers in November

Gun Media is pulling the plug on asymmetric multiplayer scary Friday the 13 th’s dedicated servers later this month, and is delivering one final patch at the same time.Friday the 13 th: The Game had a rocky start back in 2017, with a litany of bugs and technical concerns threatening to weaken what was an otherwise solidly amusing – and commercially effective – scary experience. Despite enhancements, Weapon Media then fell foul of a claim connecting to ownership of the Friday the 13 th license, at which point it announced it would no longer be developing brand-new material for the video game. However, the neighborhood has remained.That rocky roadway, however, now appears to have reached something of an end; in a post on the main Friday the 13 th: The Game online forum, lead neighborhood designer Matt Shotcha confirmed that Weapon Media will be ‘decommissioning’ the video game’s dedicated servers later on this month, reverting back to the peer-to-peer networking favoured at launch.Read more
